How Educated Minds Become Political Andh Bhakts — BJP, Congress, and Everyone Else Included
India is not short of educated people.
India is short of thinking people.
That is the uncomfortable truth.
Degrees are everywhere. Critical thinking is missing. And that is how engineers, doctors, professors, software architects, PhDs and “highly informed” WhatsApp uncles quietly turn into andh bhakts—of BJP, Congress, Left, Right, Centre, or any party that shouts the loudest.
This is not stupidity.
This is something more dangerous.
It’s called the Dunning–Kruger Effect, powered by algorithms and ego.
What is the Dunning–Kruger Effect (in simple words)?
The Dunning–Kruger Effect is when people who know a little think they know everything.
- You learn some information.
- You feel confident.
- You stop questioning.
- You start preaching.
- You think anyone who disagrees is “anti-national”, “sold out”, “urban naxal”, “bhakt”, “traitor”, or “paid”.
Ironically, the more confident you sound, the less you actually know.
And yes—education does not protect you from this.
Sometimes it makes it worse.
Now add social media. Welcome to the Blind Following Factory.
Let’s take a brutally honest example.
Assume I am a BJP supporter.
I open Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X.
I like BJP speeches.
I comment “🔥🔥🔥”.
I forward videos to family groups.
I watch full-length videos.
Now watch what happens quietly in the background.
The algorithm takes notes:
- “This person likes BJP content.”
- “Show more BJP content.”
- “Hide opposing views.”
- “Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.”
Soon:
- Every video supports BJP.
- Every reel praises BJP.
- Every news clip proves BJP is right.
- Every critic looks stupid or evil.
Now my brain concludes:
“Everyone supports BJP. Only idiots oppose it.”
Not because it’s true.
Because I am living inside a digital echo chamber.
Same story, different party
Now replace BJP with Congress.
Or AAP.
Or Left.
Or any regional party.
Same process. Same trap.
- Like Congress content → Only Congress content appears.
- Like anti-BJP content → BJP looks like the villain of the universe.
- Like caste-based videos → Your caste becomes “the most oppressed”.
- Like religious content → Other religions suddenly feel like enemies.
This is how educated people get radicalised without realising it.
No swords.
No guns.
Just likes, shares, and “recommended for you”.
Why education doesn’t save you
Here’s the uncomfortable part.
Education gives:
- Confidence
- Vocabulary
- Authority to speak loudly
But education does not guarantee humility.
An educated person trapped in Dunning–Kruger Effect:
- Quotes selectively
- Shares half-truths
- Dismisses experts
- Thinks they’ve “figured it out”
They stop listening.
And the moment listening stops, thinking dies.
From opinions to riots (yes, this happens)
You don’t wake up one day and start a riot.
It happens step by step:
- Algorithm feeds one-sided content
- Opinion becomes identity
- Identity becomes ego
- Ego becomes hatred
- Hatred seeks validation
- Validation becomes action
And the scariest part?
People genuinely believe they are doing the “right thing”.
History is full of educated people who destroyed nations—while believing they were patriots.
Caste, religion, nationalism: the perfect fuel
Social media doesn’t just divide politically.
It sharpens:
- Caste pride
- Religious superiority
- Linguistic arrogance
- Regional hatred
You don’t even need propaganda agencies anymore.
Algorithms do it for free.
They don’t care about truth.
They care about engagement.
Anger engages.
Fear engages.
Hatred engages.
So they keep feeding it.
The real problem is not BJP or Congress
Let’s be clear.
The problem is blind loyalty, not political parties.
Democracy dies when:
- Supporters stop questioning leaders
- Critics stop questioning opposition
- Everyone starts shouting
- Nobody listens
A party is not a religion.
A leader is not a god.
Criticism is not treason.
But andh bhakti turns politics into faith—and faith doesn’t allow questions.
How to escape the blind following factory
This is the hard part. No slogans here.
- Actively follow opposing views
If you support BJP, follow Congress critics.
If you support Congress, follow BJP supporters. - Be suspicious of content that makes you angry instantly
That’s algorithm bait. - Stop equating disagreement with hatred
A different opinion is not an enemy. - Unlearn the need to be right all the time
Real intelligence is saying: “I might be wrong.” - Remember this one rule
If a platform shows you only what you like, it is not informing you—it is training you.
Final truth (no sugar-coating)
India is not becoming a knowledge economy.
It is becoming a confidence-without-competence economy.
Educated people shouting.
Uninformed people leading.
Algorithms deciding reality.
And citizens confusing loyalty with intelligence.
The real danger is not who you support.
The real danger is when you stop thinking and start believing blindly.
Because once thinking stops, democracy doesn’t fall with a bang.
It dies quietly.
