Media Ownership: Follow the Power, Not the Mic

Media houses don’t survive on honesty.
They survive on access, ads, and approvals.

When owners have:

  • government contracts
  • regulatory dependencies
  • political proximity
  • or direct political roles

…editorial independence dies quietly.

When politicians or their allies sit close to media ownership, journalism becomes a controlled substance.

Travel.
Food.
Soft smiles.
Soft music.

Curly Tales — a travel and lifestyle channel — suddenly starts producing content praising:

  • Indian Railways
  • Infrastructure
  • Stations “better than Japan, US, Europe”

Same content appears on Doordarshan.
Same content appears on YouTube.
Same story.
Different packaging.

Taxpayer-funded narratives, repackaged as influencer content.

This is not information.
This is camouflaged advertising.


What Media Refuses to Talk About

While cameras chase temple visits and roadshows, here’s what stays buried:

  • Delhi’s AQI choking children
  • Aravalli hills destroyed
  • Rupee sliding towards ₹90+
  • Drinking water contamination killing people
  • Job creation stagnation
  • Healthcare under pressure
  • Education quality collapse

These are not “small issues”.

These are life-and-death issues.

But they don’t win elections.
Fear and faith do.


Temples, Damru, Roadshows: Optics Over Governance

No solutions.

Media helped sell:

  • “Double engine growth”
  • “World-class infrastructure”
  • “Vishwaguru”

But never tracks delivery.

When promises fail, media reframes:

  • “Long-term vision”
  • “Global conditions”
  • “Previous governments”
  • “National interest”

This is hypnosis.

Repeat a message enough times, people stop questioning it.


The Real Cost: Democracy on Mute

When media stops questioning power:

  • Citizens lose clarity
  • Lies become normal
  • Accountability disappears
  • Democracy weakens silently

You don’t lose freedom overnight.
You lose it headline by headline.


Final Truth

This is not anti-BJP.
This is not pro-opposition.

This is pro-truth.

A government without scrutiny becomes arrogant.
A media without spine becomes dangerous.

you don’t get nationalism.
