Who Really Runs India? The Rot Behind the Throne

A Nishani.in truth bomb ☕ Buy me a chai if you survive till the end.

We love to say “India is the world’s largest democracy.”
Sounds great. Makes a good international headline.
But let’s pause the patriotic violin music for a second and ask a bitter, bold question:
Who actually holds power in India today?

Is it the IAS officer, that civil services topper who gave up youth, sleep, and Netflix for three years just to become an obedient clerk in white kurta?
Is it the politician, who roams the streets during elections shaking hands and promising free laptops, gas cylinders, and digital heavens?
Or is it the quiet, clean-shaven billionaire businessman, who sits behind dark-tinted windows and literally decides what policies are passed, what taxes are waived, and which airport is privatized next?

Let’s strip the drama and decode the hierarchy of real power in India. Brace yourself. This blog isn’t filtered for comfort.

1. IAS Officers: The Powerless Power Holders

You think an IAS officer runs a district? Only on paper.

  • They can be transferred like a courier package for doing their job too well.
  • Innovate too much? You’ll be given charge of “Archives & Cultural Artifacts” in some remote district nobody’s heard of.
  • Try to stop illegal mining or land mafia? Boom – you’re posted to Tribal Affairs without a desk.
  • Every file moves when the politician wants it to. Not before. Not after.

The system is designed to punish integrity and reward silence.

IAS officers may have power, but it’s a borrowed pen in a politician’s pocket.

2. Politicians: The Puppets in Designer Kurtas

Yes, they get elected. Yes, they shout in Parliament.
But do they decide?

Look closely at their fundraising strategy:

  • Every major political party in India needs hundreds of crores just to run an election.
  • Where does that money come from? You guessed it – the billionaire class.
  • If a politician refuses to play ball, they won’t get party support, won’t get media time, and certainly won’t get re-elected.

So they act as policy delivery boys for the rich.
Tax relief for corporates? Done.
Ease of doing business (not for small traders, only for big sharks)? Done.
Land acquisition with zero consent from tribals or farmers? Done in two cabinet meetings.

They serve. They obey. They smile.
Democracy is now a corporate boardroom with a vote filter.

3. The Billionaire Businessmen: The Real Rulers of India

This is the 1% that runs the show. The men behind the curtain.

They:

  • Influence tax policies.
  • Push for government tenders.
  • Decide whether a PSU should be privatized or “sold” at a discount.
  • Run media outlets to control narratives.
  • Have direct WhatsApp access to ministers, bureaucrats, and even judges.

Their wealth doubles every year.
During COVID, while millions walked home hungry, billionaires in India added lakhs of crores to their bank balance.

Their companies:

  • Get bailout packages when they fail.
  • Get subsidies when they expand.
  • Get land at throwaway prices when they dream big.
  • Get loans written off when they default (but a farmer committing suicide for ₹50,000 loan still makes local news).

They control who runs the country, what the budget says, and how the future looks.

4. The Rotten Truth: A Rigged Nation for the Rich

Let’s face it. India’s “growth” story is a balloon – shiny outside, hollow inside.

We are told:

India is now the 3rd largest GDP!

But what does that mean when:

  • Over 80 crore people still need free ration to survive?
  • 77% of the nation’s wealth is owned by just 10% of the people?
  • More billionaires are created every year while middle-class families are shrinking into poverty?

This GDP race is a game played by billionaires, written by politicians, and watched helplessly by the middle class.

Rich people don’t pay taxes.
Poor people don’t earn enough to pay taxes.
The middle class is the punching bag — taxed to fund freebies, yet never getting any themselves.

5. So, What’s the Future of India?

Nothing. That’s the scary answer.

  • We might become the world’s largest economy one day.
  • We might land on the Moon and Mars and even open a cafe there.
  • But if 1% still controls 99% of decisions, then nothing changes on the ground.

Jobs won’t grow. Wages won’t rise. Schools won’t improve. Hospitals will still lack beds.

Because the real goal isn’t national progress. It’s corporate profit.

6. The Final Nail: All Parties Serve the Same Masters

Don’t be fooled by political color.
Red, blue, saffron, green – every party is funded by the same business lobby, just in different proportions.

“Chunaav jeetne ke liye paisa chahiye. Paisa ke liye billionaires chahiye. Unke liye policy chahiye.”
(To win elections, you need money. For money, you need billionaires. For billionaires, you need policy.)

And so, we go round and round — poor becoming poorer, rich becoming gods, and the middle class stuck in EMI purgatory.

Buy Me A Chai ☕ (Before I’m Silenced)

To everyone still believing in the IAS dream, or election manifestos, or budget speeches — wake up.
You’re not living in a democracy.
You’re watching a corporate reality show with political anchors.

If this blog shook you, good.
Because sometimes, bitterness is the first step to freedom.

And while the rich sip imported wine discussing “the India opportunity,”
we commoners are still figuring out if we can afford that next chai.

Comment below if you’re angry. Or shocked. Or both. But whatever you do, don’t forget to Buy Me a Chai ☕ for saying what others won’t.
Because truth doesn’t come cheap in a country run by the rich.
