Caste Census, Pahalgam Attack, and BJP’s Double Game: The Naked Truth Behind the Masterstroke

Distraction Politics in Full Swing

When the horrific terror attack happened in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where innocent Indian tourists were targeted, dragged out, and murdered, the nation expected swift, decisive action.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held multiple meetings — with Home Minister Amit Shah, the Army, Navy, Air Force chiefs — and declared he was giving “full control” to the forces to plan a fitting response.
Weeks later?

No surgical strikes. No air raids. No cross-border actions. Only media noise.

And suddenly, amid the mounting public anger, the BJP dropped its masterstroke:
“We will conduct a caste census.”

Why now? Why this announcement when tensions with Pakistan are boiling and the public is demanding accountability?

Let’s peel back the layers.

A Quick History of the Caste Census

  • Last full caste census? 1931, under British rule.
  • Post-independence: Every decadal census counts Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), but not OBCs or broader caste categories.
  • For decades, regional parties like RJD (Lalu Prasad Yadav), JD(U), SP, BSP have demanded a caste census to politically empower OBCs and marginalized groups.
  • BJP has consistently avoided it, fearing it would fuel demands for greater OBC reservation and erode upper-caste support, their core vote bank.
  • In fact, in 2021, when Bihar’s Nitish Kumar-led government demanded a caste census, the BJP-led Centre rejected it outright.

So, why the U-turn now?

The Masterstroke: Eyes on Bihar and 2024-25 Elections

Bihar, politically, is India’s caste chessboard.
Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad — all have built empires on caste arithmetic.
BJP knows:
✔️ A caste census will fracture the current OBC alliances.
✔️ It can pull Nitish back towards the NDA.
✔️ It can steal the narrative away from Congress and INDIA bloc, who have been demanding the census.

By announcing the caste census NOW, the BJP:
✅ Shifts public debate from military inaction to domestic political engineering.
✅ Repositions itself as the champion of OBC rights, even though it resisted for years.
✅ Tightens its grip ahead of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and other critical state elections.

In short, they threw a political bone to distract the barking dogs of accountability.

The Media Circus: Republic TV and BJP’s Loudspeakers

Let’s address the elephant in the room: India’s hyper-nationalist media, especially Republic TV, led by Arnab Goswami.

From day one of the Pahalgam attack, Republic ran wall-to-wall coverage — not calling for measured, mature state response but screaming:

“Pakistan must be taught an unforgettable lesson!”
“Our army has been given full freedom, action coming!”

Day after day, debate after debate, Arnab and his panel fueled public anger, made the issue about chest-thumping nationalism, and drowned out voices asking:

  • Why was there an intelligence failure?
  • Why weren’t tourists properly protected in a known sensitive zone?
  • Why hasn’t any retaliatory action been taken yet?

Who benefits from this media hysteria?

Only one player: the ruling BJP, whose failures get buried under a mountain of noisy distractions.

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, Major General (Retd.) G.D. Bakshi, typically a staunch supporter of the government’s defense policies, expressed profound frustration over the lack of decisive military action. He criticized the government’s reliance on meetings and statements without tangible responses, highlighting the need for immediate and effective military measures. Bakshi’s remarks underscore a growing concern among defense experts regarding the current approach to national security threats.

For a more in-depth understanding of Major General Bakshi’s perspective, you can watch his detailed analysis on the Pahalgam attack and India’s strategic options in this video:

The Double Standards Exposed

Let’s call out the naked truths:

  • BJP talks tough on Pakistan but has done NOTHING substantive after Pahalgam.
  • BJP avoided the caste census for years but now flips only when cornered politically.
  • BJP’s media machinery, led by Republic and its clones, manufactures outrage, not truth.
  • While families grieve the dead from Pahalgam, BJP leaders are busy playing caste games for Bihar votes.

This isn’t governance.
This is survival politics of the worst kind.

What India Should Be Asking

Instead of getting hypnotized by headline management, citizens need to demand:
❗ When will the government hold Pakistan accountable for sponsoring terror?
❗ Why does the government swing between silence and distraction instead of real action?
❗ Will the caste census truly uplift OBCs, or is it just an electoral ploy?
❗ Can we still trust national security when the government’s priority is winning the next election, not protecting the next citizen?

Final Thoughts: Wake Up, India!

BJP’s caste census announcement is not a stroke of justice.
It’s a stroke of desperation, a political magician’s trick to pull your attention away from what matters — national security failures and civilian deaths.

The Pahalgam attack has exposed more than just security gaps.
It has exposed the hollowness of India’s current political leadership, its media puppets, and the lengths they’ll go to avoid accountability.

We, the people, deserve better.
We deserve leaders who stand for action, not announcements.
We deserve media that delivers truth, not theater.
