Best AI Subscription in India 2026: Overall Winner and Best Budget Pick
Every AI company says its tool is the best. None of them is best at everything. The right choice depends on your work, your payment method and your budget. This guide gives rupee prices, payment options, current offers and two rankings.
Prices in India
These prices include GST and come from reports dated July and August 2026. Check the checkout page before you pay.
| Tool | Plans in India | Payment |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Go ₹399, Plus ₹1,999, Pro ₹10,699 to ₹19,900 | UPI, card, app store |
| Gemini | AI Plus ₹399, AI Pro ₹1,950, Ultra ₹6,500 to ₹19,500 | UPI, card |
| Claude | Pro ₹2,000 a month on an annual plan, or ₹2,399 monthly. Max from ₹11,999 | Card only at launch |
Other tools cost roughly this: Grok about $30 a month, Perplexity Pro about $20, Mistral about $15. Microsoft 365 Personal is reported at ₹689 a month. Rupee prices for these vary, so check at checkout. Kimi charges in Chinese yuan, so compare it only after you see an Indian price.
Claude’s card-only payment matters. If you do not have a card enabled for online use, you cannot subscribe.
Offers to Check First
Jio users on an unlimited 5G plan of ₹349 or more, aged 18 or above, can claim 18 months of Google AI Pro free through the MyJio app. Google AI Pro normally costs ₹1,950 a month, so this offer is worth about ₹35,000. Check it before you pay anyone.
Two older offers are over. The free year of ChatGPT Go for new Indian users is no longer listed as active. People who claimed it earlier may still hold their free year. The Airtel offer of free Perplexity Pro ended on 16 January 2026. Old articles still repeat both offers, so ignore them.
Claude has no India-specific offer.
What Each Tool Does Best
ChatGPT is the best all-rounder. It handles reasoning, files, images, voice, research and coding in one place.
Gemini is best if you live in Gmail, Drive and Docs. It reads very long documents well, and AI Pro includes 5 TB of storage.
Claude writes the most natural text and handles long documents carefully. It is also very strong at coding. It cannot create images.
Perplexity is the best for research because it shows its sources.
Grok is useful for live news and discussion on X, but it is weak as a main tool.
Microsoft Copilot suits people who work all day in Word, Excel and Outlook.
DeepSeek, Meta AI and Qwen are free. DeepSeek is good for maths and code, but do not give it private data.
Overall Ranking
- ChatGPT. The safest single choice for most people.
- Gemini. Often the better value, especially for Google users.
- Claude. The best for writing and coding, but the costliest entry in India.
- Perplexity. The best second tool for research.
- Grok. A specialist for real-time news.
Budget Ranking
- Gemini Pro through Jio. Free for 18 months if you qualify.
- Free plans. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, DeepSeek and Meta AI together cover most needs at no cost.
- ChatGPT Go or Gemini AI Plus at ₹399. The best paid entry points.
- Microsoft 365 at ₹689. Worth it only if you need Office, because Copilot comes with it.
- Gemini AI Pro at ₹1,950. Strong value if you also need the storage.
- ChatGPT Plus at ₹1,999. Worth it when you reach the limits of Go.
- Claude Pro at ₹2,000 or more. Worth it only if writing or coding is your daily job.
Avoid every plan above ₹10,000 a month unless you hit usage limits every day.
Which One for You
- Students: Gemini plus free ChatGPT.
- Programmers and writers: Claude, with ChatGPT as the second tool.
- Researchers: Perplexity to find facts, ChatGPT or Claude to analyse them.
- Business owners: ChatGPT, with Gemini or Copilot matching the tools you already use.
Two Warnings
A paid plan does not make your chats private. On the personal plans of ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, your chats can be used for training unless you turn that off in settings. Never upload client or company data to a personal plan. Business plans give real protection.
Also, every AI tool can be confidently wrong. Check important numbers, laws and medical advice against the original source.
The Smart Way to Buy
Do not subscribe to five tools. Claim any free offer first. Pick one main paid tool and test it for two weeks on real work. Use free plans of the others when you want a second opinion.
An AI that saves you five hours a month is cheap at ₹2,000. An AI you open twice a week is expensive at ₹399.
Buy AI for a job you already have, not for the hype.
