You Are Here. But Where Are You Going?” – A Wake-Up Call in Disguise
We’ve all seen that familiar phrase on maps or signboards:
“You Are Here.”
But rarely does anyone ask the deeper question that follows—“But where are you going?”
And there it was, bold and blunt, on a sign in the middle of a concrete jungle. A reminder that slapped harder than a Monday morning alarm. It didn’t tell you where to go. It asked if you even had somewhere to go.
Let’s be real—most of us are sprinting through life like rats in a maze, dodging deadlines, replying to WhatsApps, pretending we’re “too busy” to think. We wake up, eat, work, scroll, sleep… and repeat. But for what?
For likes?
For survival?
For someone else’s approval?
The Trap of “Productive Nowhere”
We’ve mistaken movement for progress, and busyness for purpose. You could be climbing the ladder non-stop—only to find it’s leaning against the wrong wall.
A job promotion that you didn’t even want.
A relationship you’re just tolerating.
A lifestyle you’re financing but not enjoying.
That’s not life. That’s autopilot hell.
The Sign Was Right: Reroute If You Must
Imagine using Google Maps to reach a destination but never entering the destination. You’ll just keep circling block after block, following random roads. That’s your life without direction.
So pause. Reflect. Ask yourself the hard, uncomfortable questions:
- What am I working toward?
- Do I even know what success means to me?
- Who decided this version of happiness for me?
Sometimes the best thing you can do is hit “Reroute.” Yes, you’ll lose time, maybe money. But you’ll regain meaning.
From Surviving to Living
Think of all the people who “had it all” but felt empty—burned out millionaires, exhausted entrepreneurs, parents who forgot their dreams. Their problem wasn’t lack of effort. It was lack of intentional direction.
You don’t have to know the entire route. You just need a North Star—a purpose worth walking toward. Whether that’s building a company, writing your book, spending more time with your kids, or healing your body… set your compass.
Don’t Just Be “Here”—Be Headed Somewhere
Let the sign haunt you a little.
Next time you catch yourself just existing, just coping, just scrolling… ask yourself:
“Is this taking me anywhere worth going?”
Because “You Are Here” is only useful if you also know where you’re meant to be.
Final Thought:
You don’t need to have all the answers. But you do need to stop living as if the questions don’t matter.
And for helping you ask those questions…
Buy me a chai. ☕
Because this direction isn’t free—but it’s worth everything.
